Job Description

We are looking for a Market Research Service Coordinator for our client ECSAT in Harwell, UK. You will be working in the Integrated and Telecommunications-related Applications Department (TIA-A) which is responsible for the promotion of ARTES (Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems) applications and services and the development of new applications and services within the ARTES applications domain.

As part of this, the Markets and Partnerships Office oversees the identification of growth opportunities in downstream applications markets and the associated opportunities for the ARTES programme, coordination with industry bodies and forums, the development of partnerships within and outside ESA. TIA-AR is further responsible for the promotion of these growth opportunities and the initiation of activity in identified markets as well as of the definition of the high level objectives for further refinement and implementation in TIA-AP.

Your tasks will include:

  • Analyse economic market potential and perform business intelligence investigations in the market sectors of relevance to TIA
  • Assess the impact that technology trends (Data analytics, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, automated transport) have in the market and the derived opportunities for space-based business applications
  • Assess market opportunities of proposed and on-going projects and propose measures to strengthen them
  • Identify trends and opportunities for new applications/services arising by the technical and business developments in the space sector
  • Define strategies to approach and establish presence new markets and measures to support ARTES Industry in seizing those opportunities
  • Characterize the stakeholders’ context and identification of partnerships opportunities
  • Use Customer Relationship Management tools (CRM) to maintain a database of relations with TIA-A current and potential partners
  • Identify high-level requirement for possible future business applications activities
  • Undertake outreach activities for establishing contacts with users communities, Industry fora, and relevant stakeholders
  • 20 Short duration European missions (2 days per trip) during the duration of this contract
  • 6 Medium duration European missions to ESTEC (1 week per trip) during the duration of this contract.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or economic/business studies
  • Significant experience in market research and business intelligence, preferably applied to some of the market sectors of relevance to space based applications
  • Sound knowledge of the overall space applications market, including the main space actors (technology suppliers, satellite operators, service providers)
  • Familiarity with the underlying space technologies (i.e. satellite communications, navigation and earth observation)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High standard of document drafting
  • Ability to work effectively both within a small team and in an autonomous way.
  • Willing to travel to ESA establishments and/or other European locations
  • Comfortable in an international working environment
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of ESA and in particular of TIA space applications programmes
  • Experience in managing space applications activities is desirable
