Copernicus Climate Expert Technician / Part-Time (18-13-034)

Job Description

Our client EUMETSAT, in coordination with the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), has developed a list of Essential Climate Variable (ECVs) that largely describe the climate system. The Process Assurance and Management Support Division within the Technical and Scientific Support Department provides technical support to the Climate Service unit for this task.

We are looking for someone to provide part-time (20 hours/week) technical support to activities related to the management of the contributions of data set providers to the ECV Inventory and their assessment by the gap analysis teams. Your tasks will include:

  • Maintenance of the ECV Inventory website
  • Maintenance of the Working Group Climate Website (TBD)
  • Implementation of technical improvements of the ECV Inventory and its integration with the Working Group Climate Website. Technical improvements can, inter alia, cover additional / improved functionalities for the gap analysis, additional / improved reporting capabilities, additional / improved image generating capabilities
  • Enhancing the security of the ECV Inventory

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining databases using MySQL.
  • Experience in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining websites using Apache, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
