Job Description

 

Are you a software engineer passionate about C/C++?

Do you have hands-on experience in software optimisation and performance increase using parallel computing techniques?

Would you like to be a key contributor to the success of the data processing systems of Earth Observation satellites?

If you have answered with a “Yes!” to at least two of the questions above, this is very likely a position for you, and we would love to get to know more about you.

The projects you would work on are mainly related to the Payload Data Processing Systems of the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). You will be involved in building, maintaining and evolving systems that process data coming from instruments on various spacecrafts orbiting around the Earth.

This is foreseen as a full-time position (80-100%), but part-time applications will be considered. We welcome applications from experienced engineers, as well as junior engineers.

Required Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or similar, preferably with a focus on software engineering
  • Pro-active attitude with initiative and interest in challenging solutions
  • Excellent communication skills in an international environment
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written particularly in technical documentation
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the following technologies is required:
    • C/C++
    • Multithreading
    • Linux OSs

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

 

  • Knowledge about data processing
  • Java
  • Python
  • Relational Databases (PostgreSQL)
  • PLSQL
  • Continuous integration environments and source control management systems and their respective tools, e.g. GitLab and SonarQube

 

Work Location

Darmstadt, Germany

We offer flexibility with home office, with regular meetings in Darmstadt.
