Solenix Deutschland GmbH (DE), with its subcontractors GISAT s.r.o (CZ), Progressive Systems Srl (IT), Qualteh JR Srl (RO) and TERRASIGNA Srl (RO), is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the European Space Agency (ESA) for the maintenance and evolution of mobile applications for the Space Component of Copernicus - the European Earth Observation Programme.
This brand new three-year contract, kicked-off in the beginning of October, will guarantee the continuation of the work on the very popular Sentinel app for iOS and Android, initially developed by the same consortium, starting in 2015. In the past two years, the Sentinel app has dramatically evolved. It has been downloaded more than 16.000 times by users all over the world, allowing scientists, engineers, space professionals and general public alike to get to know and keep up-to-date on many aspects of the Copernicus Sentinel constellation, a key part of the largest Earth Observation programme in the world.
One of the first visible changes will be the new Copernicus branding of the app now named Copernicus Sentinel App. This will be accompanied by the introduction of several new exciting features in the coming months.
In the contract, there is also room for new applications and follow-up of related work in the mobile arena.
Solenix is excited to continue working with ESA and the EU in this project and is very proud to once again deserve the trust of ESA.
Work funded by the EU and ESA. The views expressed herein can in no way be taken to reflect the official opinion of the European Space Agency or of the European Union.
