Job Description
You will have the opportunity to support the ESA Data Quality Manager, covering aspects related to Instrument Performance, Operational Processors and Calibration, up to Phase E2.
Activities and tasks The scope of work will include:
Support and assistance to the Data Quality Manager, PDGS Manager and Mission Project
Planning and preparation of documentation related to data quality activities (including processor maintenance and evolution, as well as product monitoring)
Support to the integration of L1 and higher-level processors (in a cloud-based platform)
Support for the testing and acceptance of data processors/products and related CalVal and data quality tools
Support to management of review item discrepancies, system or software problem reports and actions linked to processor/tools development, testing and acceptance activities
Support to Test Data Set definition and generation
Review of technical, scientific and managerial documentation
Support to management and execution of PDGS integration, testing and overall Ground Segment Validation activities
Participation to Ground Segment Reviews and PDGS reviews
Support to Commissioning Phase activities
Support to anomaly investigation either on instrument settings or calibration processors
Generation of technical notes, whenever needed during the relevant project phases
Participation and support to Mission Advisory Groups and Quality Working Groups
Ad-hoc development of tools in support of the mentioned tasks.
Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
University Master’s degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation
Good understanding and background in geophysical sciences and/or specific on SAR processing and applications (e.g. SAR polarimetry, polarimetric interferometry)
Experience in operational processors development and algorithms definition (ATBD)
Experience in instrument performance monitoring and data quality control
Experience in calibration activities
Fluent English language (oral and written)
Autonomy in writing technical notes, specifications and reports
Good inter-personal skills and team spirit.
The following skills are highly desirable:
You have a good knowledge of the ESA Earth Explorers missions, and processes related to their PDGS development
You have a good understanding and background of Earth Observation applications
You possess programming skills to develop tools for the accomplishment of the engineering, testing and validation activities
You possess a sound knowledge of containerisation technologies and virtual environment
You have knowledge of the ECSS standards and documentation and configuration control management techniques.
