Job Description

In 2025, Solenix is going to consolidate all its operational activities in two divisions. We are looking for a senior leader to head our Mission Operations and Innovation division. This division will ensure smooth and reliable operations for space missions. By integrating advanced automation, AI-driven analysis, and user-friendly operational tools, the division will focus on enhancing mission safety, efficiency, and resilience, with solutions adaptable to other industries.

As we are establishing a new organisation of our operational activities, this is a unique opportunity for the holder of the position to contribute to the detailed definition and organisation of the division.
 

The responsibilities for this position are:

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Define and establish the division's goals in collaboration with the CEO.
    • Develop and manage a comprehensive action plan to achieve these goals.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements, in partnership with the Sales and Business Development Office and Products and Technologies Office.
  • Team Leadership
    • Organise the division’s team structure to ensure effective line management and contract execution.
    • Oversee the division's recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and offboarding of team members.
    • Promote a culture in the division in line with the company’s values within the division.
  • Operational Oversight
    • Oversee the efficient stewardship of resources to meet contractual deadlines and quality standards.
    • Optimise workflows, tools, and methodologies to enhance operational performance.
    • Collaborate with other divisions and offices to align on shared challenges and opportunities.
  • Contract Acquisition
    • Generate leads for the division and contribute to company-wide business development efforts in coordination with the Sales and Business Development Office.
    • Oversee the preparation and submission of proposals with support from the Sales and Business Development Office.
  • Contract Execution
    • Ensure deliveries meet quality, scope, cost, and deadline requirements.
    • Maintain good relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Address and resolve operational challenges to ensure successful contract execution.
  • Performance Management
    • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the division's success.
    • Provide regular updates to the CEO, highlighting progress, challenges, risks and opportunities.
    • Proactively address operational and strategic issues as they arise, implementing corrective actions where necessary.

The qualifications for this position are:

  • Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in leading operational teams, preferably in the space industry.
  • Strong strategic planning and portfolio management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage resources efficiently and meet contractual obligations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in analysing KPIs and leveraging insights for continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with industry trends and technological advancements relevant to the division's operations.
  • A good command of English, both written and spoken.

Work Location: Darmstadt, Germany

We follow a hybrid scheme with 2 days (or more if you wish to) in the office and the remaining days from home.
